Evening Pulse: Kota arrests close the Juhu manhunt, but the investigation has further to go
Three suspects have been caught after the firing at Tiger Shroff’s car. Fadnavis describes interstate police coordination; evidence and motive remain the next tests.

The main change since Maharashtra’s morning Pulse is an arrest update, rather than another political demand. Free Press Journal and Loksatta report that three suspects in the firing at actor Tiger Shroff’s car have been caught in Rajasthan’s Kota. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has described how police tracked their movements and coordinated across state lines. The search flagged this morning has produced suspects; proving their alleged roles is the next stage.
Loksatta’s report, first published at 1.09 pm and updated at 2.45 pm, carries the Chief Minister’s account. He said the suspects went via Surat and boarded a Pune–Jaipur train. Mumbai police tracked them and contacted Rajasthan police, who helped take them into custody at Kota. He said they would be brought to Mumbai after the formalities. These are the authorities’ statements about the operation, rather than findings reached after a trial.
Free Press Journal supplies a more detailed account of the complaint. It reports that caretaker and driver Firdos Ibrahim Baloch told police he was wounded as he and Shroff left a football ground on Sunday evening. Shroff then drove him to Santacruz police station, from where police took them to hospital. That account adds the complainant’s description of the immediate response. It should be attributed to the FIR, rather than treated as a reconstruction independently established in every detail.
Moneycontrol also reports the arrests and the transfer of the case to the Mumbai Crime Branch. Its account says the complaint concerns two people allegedly firing and another person’s involvement in the escape. A filing against initially unidentified people and the later detention of suspects are different points in an investigation. Public identification, evidence connecting each person to an act, and the legal steps after custody matter more than treating the initial description as a completed case.
The reports also require care about injuries. Free Press Journal relays the driver’s account of his injuries and information he said he received about Shroff. Moneycontrol says the actor escaped a gunshot wound. Those statements do not justify diagnosing him from photographs or resolving every conflicting description of his condition. The confirmed update for this edition is the arrests and the police account of the operation; it adds no speculative medical conclusion.
The same restraint applies to motive. Moneycontrol says the public claim of responsibility associated with the Bishnoi gang had not been independently established in its report. Loksatta carries police remarks about further investigation. This Pulse therefore does not identify a proven mastermind or turn an alleged association into a settled finding. The government now has a concrete operational result to present, while the unanswered questions have moved towards evidence, instructions and responsibility for the attack.
Pulse view
Analysis by the Pulse deskThe arrests give the government a substantive answer to the demand for immediate action. Interstate coordination, as described by Fadnavis, is a meaningful policing result. It does not settle the wider political argument about preventing threats, and the opposition’s criticism does not remove the need to judge the investigation by its evidence.
The next temptation will be to treat a claimed network connection as an explanation of the whole attack. A credible account should distinguish a public boast, a police allegation and material that can be tested in court. What would demonstrate lasting public safety beyond catching the people suspected of carrying out this attack?
What to watch
- Formal custody and the suspects’ transfer to Mumbai
- Evidence establishing each suspect’s alleged role
- Recovery and examination of weapons and other material
- A substantiated account of motive and any wider instructions
